My momma played trombone all growing up (and still does, time to time.) My brother and I recently got our first instruments and have started lessons on how to play them. Momma plays along and we’re doing really well! Tyler got a red saxophone and I picked a blue Trombone. This is my new “mini p-bone”, a plastic alto saxophone that is easier for me to play. I’ll earn a big trombone some day, but for now I love my little blue horn and it is waaaaaaay easier to hold than the heavy brass one!
Here is a painting I did of my Blue Trombone. I love it.

This abstract painting represents an extremely pixellated planet with a near by star that goes from red to orange to yellow, burning hotter and hotter.

My family went on vacation starting with a road trip from Wisconsin to Denver, CO, then down through the mountains past Arches National Park in Utah, ending in the desert of Phoenix, AZ. We saw many amazing places, including the world’s largest Van Gogh painting in Kansas! It was bigger than a billboard.
Particularly fascinating was the Arches National Park. You could walk right out and into the arches, climb on boulders, and explore all over. I saw my very first cactus there!
I had so much fun and saw so many new things that I will remember forever. It was amazing.
When I got home, I started a portrait of Momma watching me while I paint. For the background, I made her sitting in front of an arch!
The colors of the rainbow have always fascinated me. In this painting I circle the vibrant colors of the rainbow around the complete opposite, a stark medium gray.
